Long time greetings to my blog followers. . . This post is a bit delayed and I apologize. . . but nonetheless I felt that an update was in order. . .

For those of you that have not heard, many changes have taken place. . . Prairie Images will now be Studio M effective immediately . . . In terms of the service and quality that you receive there will be no change and I will still be at the same location . . . this change is simply to provide a better outline of what my business offers to each and every one of you. I will be providing some new things and felt this change fit those things much better. . . I'm excited for these new changes and hope you will join me in 2012.

I will be working to get everything transitioned over soon and the blog will probably not be quite as active as it was in the past . . . so if you want to keep up with all of the comings and goings of Studio M please visit us at Studio M on Facebook.

Hope your Twenty Twelve is off to a blazing start. . . mine is and I can't be more excited!

Senior Season is approaching quickly . . . and new things are shaping up nicely at Prairie Images Photography! I had great response to my Early Bird special and so June filled very quickly. Summer sessions in general fill fast so if you are wanting a session, call today and get your date reserved . . .

April and May have been crazy busy trying to get things all spruced up and new outdoor places made. . . I love having an exclusive place to shoot . . . and I love being able to provide these one of a kind places for my customers! Because I want every client to feel special and receive the attention they deserve, Prairie Images schedules accordingly which means you won't be rushed in and out the door to make room for the next client! This doesn't mean that I am not busy or working, it simply means I want to give you my absolute best!

With the weather getting warmer that also means that outdoor pictures for everyone are requested. Outdoor portraits make for great family portraits too. However, Kansas weather can be a bit bi-polar as we have all noticed lately and so sometimes we have to resort to Plan B and shoot indoors instead. Locations are chosen that I feel make the best set up for your portraits as well as the time of day! Sometimes work schedules conflict with those "perfect" times of day and also mean Plan B has to be accommodated! If you have a special location in mind for your family portraits, I'd love to visit with you about it so that we can schedule a time that will work the absolute best!

My clients mean the world to me and it's a pleasure to see many of them in the studio year after year. That loyalty is what keeps me going. I hope this blog finds you all good and well . . . with all the hustle and bustle of getting things ready for a new year, the blog tends to get neglected. . . rest assured though it is only temporary and I am still here ready to capture your milestones and memories!

Spring is in the Air. . .

Spring has sprung and the wind has blessed us with its ugly appearance many times this past few weeks! Evidently Mother Nature didn't get the memo that April was in with the lamb. Some April showers for those May flowers wouldn't hurt anything either!

Spring fever also brings out the need to declutter! I've actually been trying to declutter all winter, so maybe some of you have too! With that being said, Trash and Treasure Days is just around the corner, April 30th to be exact! So for all of you enthusiastic, energetic and motivated people who are looking to free up some space. . . keep my list in mind. One man's trash is anothers treasure right?

I am looking for these things and of an economical nature! I collect all year round and then when I get enough "stuff" I start putting it all together for my various projects. (maybe that's why I have a decluttering problem! When I declutter I find things to replace it with) Give me a jingle or an email if you have any of these things. Thanks for the look!

Bodhi is my nephew! He loves to tell stories and has a BIG imagination! He spent 4 days with us during his spring break! He loves army stuff so we took advantage of his visit to get some new images! Bodhi had LOTS of ideas for his army collection session. After he got done with HIS ideas, he even told me I could do some of mine too! :-) Gotta love this age! The session wasn't all about army though. He managed to let me squeeze 3 more outfits out of him before he made me quit! I tried to convert him to the Jayhawk side, but he wouldn't have any part of it. Sigh . . .

In January, Prairie Images Photography kicked off the new year with a Teen Photogenic Contest! Through friends and family voting, two winners were crowned!

The winner of the contest was Miss Kaitlin Flores. Kaitlin is from Cimarron High School and is involved in many school activities. Kaitlin came yesterday for her complimentary session that she won! We had a great time shooting. Thanks for entering the contest and thanks for coming yesterday!

Miss Carlie Smith was our runner up in the contest. Carlie is from Meade Junior High and is involved in Volleyball, Basketball Cheerleader and Track. Carlie came for her session during spring break and brought lots of fun clothes she found on her shopping trip the day before! Thanks for participating in the contest Carlie!

Oh Happy Day! Yesterday that Pesky Groundhog cooperated with us and alas Spring is on it's way. . . EARLY! In fact with today's heatwave already in progress and mother nature giving the wind a rest, we are supposed to hit a whopping 27 degrees today!

I reported last week that I have a bathroom sink again . . . WELL . .. now I have a toilet too! I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel with this bathroom project. Maybe there is a reason it took two years to start it.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. . . Be sure to remember that special someone in your life . . . it might not be a very pleasant day if you don't!

Maybe just maybe I will get my Christmas tree down this weekend. . . It was suggested to just put hearts on it and call it a Valentine Tree. . . But in order to do that I'd have to "undecorate" it first. . . if I do that it's done! :-)

And Lastly . . . Did you know that over 90% of all images taken on today’s digital cameras are NEVER PRINTED? I'm assuming this is referencing the consumer side of the photography industry. . . wouldn't it be sad to think of all those professional images just sitting on a disk somewhere and never being printed for people to view in your home . . .

2010 2A STATE CHAMPIONS!

WOW! What a day, what a season, what a year! This family of players have spent 103 days together preparing and dreaming about this day to come! (not to mention the last 27 of them I wore purple EVERY single day :-) And when the final seconds ticked off the clock and the victory formation was carried out, the Meade Buffaloes were crowned the 2A 2010 STATE CHAMPIONS and Coach Moshier earned his 100th win!

In August, when I first watched the music video "The Boys of Fall" I can't even describe the feelings that came over me! I had never seen anything like it . . . So many messages in it that for many years I have tried to convey to my own kids. Messages that I wanted them to someday look back on and say, I miss those times and remember them like they were yesterday! It brings me to tears every time I watch/listen to it. But as I listened to it I also thought of our Seniors past and present and the feelings they would have on their "last play of football ever" and just as it was their dream to end it with a State Championship, it became my dream for them as well! And yesterday as I stood amongst the soon to be 2010 State Champions, I got to watch their dreams come true! What an amazing day it was!

Having the opportunity to be among these kids every Friday night has been a blessing that I will always cherish! To see the love they have for each other and their coaches and the determination that they had as they strived to reach this dream is a feeling I will always remember! Yesterday was the icing on the cake! And to all of you that were behind us in the stands, you can't imagine the noise level that radiated from all of you down to the field! To turn around and see our stands full of PURPLE was such an amazing thing. I have had several ask if I got pictures of it but to do that I would have had to go to the "other" side LOL Rest assured it looked absolutely, positively amazing though and we know we more than represented our kids and our community well!

There has been a lot of reminiscing about the past two State Championships that the Buffaloes have won and many trips were made down memory lane. With 5 players on the team who had fathers representing the previous championship teams it gave opportunities for the feelings to be expressed. . .Feelings that for many years didn't come every Friday night, but returned as they got married and started having their children! I was in 7th grade when the 1980 championship was won! And I can remember feeling the Purple Pride then, but absolutely NOTHING can equate to the feeling of witnessing and being right there watching the VICTORY yesterday! I remember hearing the song "We are the Champions" being played back then and what a wonderful noise as they played it yesterday as well. Before I went to bed Friday night I moved "We are the Champions" up to #2 on my blog playlist! I didn't want to jinx anything and mess with the mojo and believe me there was LOTS of it for us this year :D But the first thing I did last night when I got home was move that song up to #1. . . a tribute to our 2010 STATE CHAMPIONS! You carried out your "Do What We Do" motto with Character, Discipline, Tradition and an amazing TEAM!

To say this season was remarkable is way underestimated! Words can't even really describe the feeling! And then to come home to a very impromptu welcome home for all of them just shows how beneficial it is living in a small town! To our law enforcement, fire department and highway patrol who helped us in this very last minute planning we all thank you for being such a great part of it! Standing there last night and seeing the mini parade made the feelings come rushing over many of us all over again! The fireworks topped off the evening, and none of this could have been done without some great people to help out(not to mention the power of Facebook and Texting technology).

In closing, the season the Meade Buffaloes were 2010 STATE CHAMPIONS is now a part of history! You will now carry the torch for all young athletes to look at and begin having their own dreams! You have set a new precedence and people will talk for a long time about that beautiful November day in Hays, KS when the Meade Buffaloes won the 2010 State Championship! To you SENIORS that played your last play of football ever remember that "On that day and at the end of your life, you can look in the mirror and know that you gave it all you had and gave it for a worthy cause because you were the 2A 2010 STATE CHAMPIONS of Meade High School Football!

Thank you again for allowing me to be a part of it! I can't imagine there is any better place to be!

Class 2-1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

In August of 2010 the Meade High School Football team started another season! The goals were stated and the dreams were set for a trip to the State Championship game. Friday, November 19, 2010 those goals and dreams became a reality as the Meade Buffaloes defeated the Stanton County Trojans for the 2-1A Sub-State Championship!

These accomplishments don't happen without a lot of Character, Discipline, Tradition and TEAMwork. With a team motto of "DO WHAT WE DO" the Buffaloes have done just that. But in addition to the above things it also takes lots of sweat, determination, dedication and coaches that lead these young men every single day!

I've said it once and I'll say it again. . . I'm Proud to be a Buffalo and to wear my purple for the past 22 days :-) I am thankful for the opportunities I have had to capture many moments that I for one will always remember. . . One click at a time! I think I may have even learned a little bit about the game too in the process. I don't know exactly what Right 16 Power does, but I do know it usually means something good, and when I hear spread I'd better be ready for a pass play :D But more than that I've learned how caring all of these young men can be about their teammates, their coaches and even me! We have raised some very fine young men and we all should be very proud!

So as we wrap up this season watching our team realize their dreams, let us always be thankful for the memories that we will all treasure forever and let us all be proud to be a Buffalo Fan!

There's plenty of time for tomorrows!
But these nights are going by fast.

Need I say more . . . The title says it all! The Buffaloes came out victorious over the Stanton County Trojans with a 44-26 win and a Sub-State Title! The first Sub-State title since 1980.

So Week 13 starts tomorrow as the Buffaloes will begin preparations for Pittsburg-Colgan Panthers and the final journey of their quest for a State Championship!

Pictures will have to wait until tomorrow . . . I'm exhausted and I need my sleep so I can gear up for another week. The best part is when I wake up tomorrow it will still be REAL!

Week 12: Do What We Do!

The Buffaloes traveled to Lacrosse to take on the Leopards with the Sectional Title on the line! The night was cold and the ground was damp, but that didn't stop the Buffaloes from taking control and never looking back! The Buffaloes controlled the clock and had possession of the ball for 10 minutes of the first quarter and finally put 8 points on the scoreboard! Lacrosse managed to get with in reach of a touchdown but our Defensive Line stepped up and stopped them to regain possession and put another score on the board! Halftime saw the Buffaloes leading 32-0. The second half saw the Leopards finally seeing the endzone and putting two touchdowns on their own side of the scoreboard. But the intensity of the Buffaloes remained and they added two more of their own to end the game with a 44-12 Buffalo win and a Sectional Championship!

The Buffaloes will travel to Stanton County on Friday night, November 19th for a rematch with the Trojans and a Sub-State Title game! The Buffaloes beat the Trojans during week 5 action. A trip to the State Championship is on the line! Kick off is 7:00 p.m. Don't miss the action. You won't be disappointed! We hope to see you there!

This is what we have been waiting for . . . Back in August when the heat is bearing down at over 100 for days and the wind is blowing like no other, I know all I can think about is fall and cooler weather! I cannot imagine being in all that gear and having to endure the heat. But that's just what has to be done for the Buffaloes to DO WHAT THEY DO! The hard work and dedication is what it takes for them to reach their goals and dreams. . . our dreams as parents too :-)

With a Regional Championship under our belts that brings us to Week 11 which means a Sectional Playoff Game is on the horizon and a trip to visit the Lacrosse Leopards! Kick off is on schedule for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12th. Come out and support the Buffaloes as they strive to complete another step to reach their dream!

Week Nine . . .

WOW! It's hard to believe that we are ending the regular season of our 2010 football year already! The Buffaloes will travel to Sublette kicking off at 7:00 p.m. It is amazing how time just flies by! But as sad as it is that each game we play is the beginning of the end for our Seniors, I am BEYOND excited for the playoffs! It is a highlight of every year for me and I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to stand on the sidelines amongst all of our great kids! They are a lot of fun and very courteous to me when I'm traipsing back and forth! A HUGE hats off to our JV boys as they ended their season on Monday night in Elkhart. It was a nailbiter of a game, but we persevered and completed the season undefeated!

I really wasn't sure what I was going to write about when I came to this page tonight! This time of year also brings on many emotions for me . . . not that it takes much! Sooooo with that said I'd better just quit now before I get totally sappy . . . I'll end with a few more of my favorite shots from this year to date while I listen to my blog music and get pumped up for the game! Thanks to all of my faithful followers. . . Enjoy!

Fall Happenings. . .

What a beautiful October we have had! I can't remember the last time that we had such gorgeous weather! It has been a tad warm for fall, but I'll take that any day over the freezing cold! The trees are really turning into their beautiful fall glory as well!

Just wanted to give an update on a few things that will be happening soon. First off, don't forget the Ghost, Goblins and Spook pictures this weekend! A few time slots are still available on Friday. Be sure to call and schedule a time if you want to come on Friday. Saturday is come and go from 4:00-7:00. I finally was able to get a picture of the setup.

Also . . . Mark your calendars for November 23rd. . . a Ladies Night Out is being planned at the studio! I have invited several others to join me and you will be able to do some holiday shopping or make your "holiday wishlist" to make someone else's holiday shopping a piece of cake! Plan to join us for refreshments and LOTS of fun. . . a complete list of participants will be available soon!

I've been waiting for it forever it seems. . . but I think fall is FINALLY here. . . I love sleeping with the windows open(despite it being a huge allergy issue) and feeling the coolness of the mornings that slip into nice Indian Summer afternoons. There's nothing better! Now let's hope it stays around for awhile and doesn't just jump right into being "Ole Man Winter!"

My blog is behind . . . I have no excuses . . . so this will be a catchup post for everyone. It's hard to believe we are a month into the 2010-2011 school year. Fall arrived yesterday, however, the temperatures have been telling us a completely different story! Fall athletics are in full swing and all of the sports are competing well. If you haven't watched an activity yet, come on out and support our student athletes. Activities range from 3rd grade up to the High School level and between all of these groups there's usually at least ONE activity at home each week!

The arrival of fall weather also gets everyone in the Holiday Mood. . . Halloween, Thanksgiving, and yes even that "C" word--Christmas. Each year I think we can all agree they all come way too soon!

I have had a great bunch of Seniors this year and I want to take this time to thank everyone for their support this year and in the past! Without all of you, I would not be able to do what I do~~and that is capture moments. Whether it is that senior leaving the nest, a child hitting a new milestone, or that new family portrait that needs to be updated~~You all give me the opportunity to do all of that!

Deni arrived last week full of smiles. She had an unfortunate knee injury last year that had to be fixed last spring and after a trip to the doctor on the day before her session, she got a full release which made her very very HAPPY! We had a plan B in place just in case :-) Deni's session was unique. . . we experienced alot of different things. ..it started out a nice cloudy calm day . .. the minute we got set up to start the outdoor part of the session, the rain hit and the wind started howling . . . so back indoors we went to let the storm pass. Then the next trip outside brought us sunshine and tons of humidity. . . That's what is fun about senior sessions. ..you never know what might happen LOL . . .Deni is also one of my Senior Model Reps and so it was a joy to get her session finished before the busy days of school call our name! Elly called early last year about getting pictures with her horse Poco in her wedding dress! With an early May wedding scheduled, we thought NO problem . . . Piece of cake! Well as it happened, rain decided to bless us(not that we should complain) on the first scheduled date. . . Date 2 rolled around and brought with it 900mph winds. . . (well not quite but yo get the picture) . . . So now with summer approaching and both of our scheduled being CRAZY BUSY that had us have to look clear into July . . . We managed to avoid rain and heat and instead sweat off about 20 pounds I'm sure last Friday! BUT in the end we got them done and had GREAT results! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Thanks Elly . . . Summer is clicking along . . . and if the heat alone doesn't tell you what day it is I don't know what will! It has been absolutely awful . . . maybe I'm just getting old, but the humidity just seems to get worse every year!

Kansas Senior Portrait Photographer: WOW What a whirlwind . . .

Seventy five days ago I started the work on my outdoor portrait area. And WOW what a trip it has been . . . 12-14 hour days spent trying to get everything done before the Summer Season hit!

I am happy to report that all the long hours have paid off and the Outdoor Portrait area is developed. There are still a few things that need to be tweaked and finished up but it's at least useable and I cannot wait to try it out!

A big thank you to those that offered things on my "want list". That was a huge help! And a huge thanks to all of those that helped get it done and for the encouragement that was offered.

I am excited to have this new area right at the studio to provide an exclusive look that can only be found at Prairie Images!

ATTENTION CLASS OF 2011!

It's never too early to start thinking about your Senior Portraits! This is one of the best times of your life and what better way to remember it then with a great Portrait Session!

Prairie Images Photography wants to help you "Define the Trend" and I'm looking for a few enthusiastic individuals who would like to help promote Prairie Images Photography! Prairie Images Model Reps get a free Mini model session in the studio this spring. This session is to put my brainstorming to work and trying out new ideas to create images for advertising and promotional materials. You will be the first ones from your class to be photographed which will allow you to be the buzz of your school. In addition to the mini session, you will also have the opportunity to earn credit towards your own session when you refer your friends as well as special bonuses that are only available to "Define the Trend" Models! A full session will be scheduled later in the summer to complete your Senior Portrait experience.

To qualify you must currently be a high school Junior who wants to have Prairie Images Photography take your Senior Portraits. Model Reps must be willing to promote Prairie Images Photography and attend a consultation meeting with one of your parents. The consultations will be held at the studio at a time that can be accomodated for both of you.

Party Sessions! What is a party session you ask? Party Sessions are great fun for those special times and important milestones. . . perhaps you have someone becoming a teenager, or hitting that Sweet 16, or just a bunch of friends or who like to hang out and have fun! Party Sessions document these moments in a photo session that allows your special someone's the opportunity to just have fun and express themselves in front of the camera. Hopping to Prairie Images Photography! That's right and just in time for Easter Portraits!

For the first time ever Prairie Images Photography will have Portraits with a live bunny! Set up will be a Spring colored theme with blues/yellows/greens and a small hint of pink. Up to 4 children can be accommodated for this special!

Limited Editions Easter Sessions will be booked on March 18-19-20, 2010 with the bunny available on Saturday the 20th only! Please book by March 15th, 2010.

Appointments will be available from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each day! Session fee is $25.00 for one child. Add $5.00 per child. Session fee is due when scheduling to reserve your spot! John Deere Days Are Here . . .

Back by popular demand, February will feature John Deere Days for the Limited Editions Theme! Sessions will be available on February 6th, 8th, & 9th between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

This Limited Editions session will feature the pedal John Deere Tractor for the kiddos that are old enough to sit well and a smaller scale tractor is available for the littler ones. This theme will work best for babies that can sit alone and older!

Clothing suggestions are anything denim. I do have some overalls available in smaller sizes. This isn't just for the boys . . . doll them little girls up in their boots and denim dresses and this theme will fit perfect for them as well!

There are no session fees for this special, and collections start at $100. This is a savings of $85.00 off of a regular session! One pose will be chosen for the collection, but additional poses may be purchased at 25% off Ala Carte prices! You will view and order the day of the session!
