Saturday Daylights: Week 4

Okay . . . Week 4 had a bit of a change up . . . so it isn't "technically" Friday Night Lights since we played on Saturday at 1:00 . .. so Saturday Daylights it is. :-)

The weekend started in stages as the Buffalo fans started on the journey Friday morning. Some fans left really early . . while others had to leave later. . . Some traveled as far as they could while others only made the trip about half way finishing into Missouri on Saturday Morning . . . but regardless. . . we all made it there safe and sound . . . some even got to see the team off the bus as they arrived at the school!(I won't mention any names Grandma and Grandpa :-) But the pride and enthusiasm was there and even as hot as it was it was a memorable and fun journey! Kids from college that were fairly close even made the trip to watch their Alma Mater!

So all in all all I can say is. . . WOW. . . What a weekend! You can only imagine the comments we've gotten about why in the world Meade, KS is traveling to Appleton City, Missouri for a HIGH SCHOOL football game. . . someone even commented in the Hutch News Online . . . Crazy I know but hey . . . sometimes things just happen!

And . . .Happen they did . . . I wasn't quite sure how the Buffaloes would come out since things were a bit off schedule, but regardless of what others commentators in our area thought the results would be, I can't say I was ever really worried. . . we have the elements of the game that it takes to win ball games . . . so it was just a matter of when those elements would fall into place . . . Well . . . it didn't take long . . . The coin toss resulted in the Buffaloes starting off the game receiving the kick off from the Bulldogs. . . within seconds #3 was down the field looking to score. . . and a few plays later the Buffaloes posted the first 7 points of the game! Meade continued to prove that long bus rides, strange motel beds, and being out of schedule really didn't matter. They just got in there and did what they had to do and put points on the board. By halftime the score was 35-0. This resulted in a running clock for the second half. The JV kids got to see some action starting in the 3rd quarter and I have to say they did a mighty fine job. So when all was said and done and the final seconds ticked away. . . Final score: Meade Buffaloes 42, Appleton City Bulldogs 7. Great Job Buffaloes!

I do have to mention that Appleton City treated us very kindly. As we entered the city limits, they had put out a sign that Welcomed us there! I was so amazed at this that we didn't even realize that the school was right there! They had the grills going to feed all of us hungry folks as we arrived and every one was extremely friendly and welcoming to us! So if anyone from Appleton City happens to read this . . . Please know how appreciative we are of your school and community for making us feel welcome!

Next week things return to normal . . . well as normal as they can be for "Homecoming Week". . . but no long travels are in the works for the Buffaloes. Elkhart Wildcats will be in town! So come out and support your hometown Buffaloes as they crown a new Homecoming King and Queen and look to put another W on their record. Kick off is at 7:00 p.m. with the crowning taking place prior the game!

Congratulations to our Candidates: Kyle Ross and Hannah Hoffman; Duell Strickler and Erica Lauppe; Taylor Headrick and Amber Padgett; Caiden Kohart and Ashley Reimer; and Tanner Wiens and Ashleigh Snook!
