Spring has Sprung . . .

It's that time of year. .. the pretty flowers are making their emergence into nature.. . even those pretty yellow ones that my yard seems to have so plentiful . .. the trees are showing signs of green and even the buffalo grass is wanting to display it's glory . . . that should be exciting right?? I mean for the past 4 months it's been just flat ugly ... all brown and bare... not to mention the frigid cold temps that we experienced. . . soooo why the reluctance to say HELLO Spring . . . Welcome to Kansas?

Well here's the reason . . . TWO BIG ONES actually . .. and both are those nasty S words.. . Snakes and Storms. . . to be honest .. . the storms I can "usually" deal with .. . but those snakes . . . well let's just say I'm getting better and I "on occasion" will actually spare a bullsnake his life . . . but I still don't like them . . . not one single bit . . . their ugly, their nasty, and they scare the heck out of me and make me shiver. .. not to mention the nightmares they can cause. .. but thankfully we have good doggies who let us know when they are near . . .and sometimes far . . .

Storms on the other hand. . . well . . . I don't really like them either . . . but at least we usually have some warning . . .unlike snakes alot of the time. . . the biggeset problem with storms is they want to come at night . . . when my world is sound asleep . . . so even if we know there are "warnings," nothing is worse then being suddenly awakened by a sound that makes you feel like the roof is being ripped off . . . of course once that happens, so much for getting back into that dreamland that was suddenly abrupted.

Here it is . . . not even April and our State has already experienced it's share of turbulent weather(the storm chasers were even here for this one) but, last night was actually pretty mild for us personally . . . I mean there were tornadoes spotted north of us . . . and at least one very unfortunate and deadly one south of us . . . but all we got was the sound of rain . . . not really a hard rain . . . just rain . . . and alot of it . . . for alot of hours. . . like I thought it was never going to end. . . and ohhhh the thunder and lightning . .. it's been a long time since I remember it cracking and booming like that . . . but through it all, I did actually manage to sleep . . . and hey we even kept our electricity this time . . . and I woke up this morning to cloudy skies, cool temps and WATER. . . and I mean EVERYWHERE. .. but hey . . . at least the empty water tanks stayed in their place, the feed bunks didn't get scattered even further away, and the repaired dog house didn't get blown away.

To close today's blog I've posted a picture so everyone can enjoy the saturated ground with me. . . but remember. . . I never said I was a landscape photographer.
