And Then There Were 4 . . .

Buffalo Fans young and old were plenty tonight as they braved the brisk(aka COLD) November football weather. The Meade Buffaloes took to the field against the Ellis Railroaders! The Buffaloes came out ready to play and made some great plays. Meade found the endzone first and added the 2 point conversion to put them up 8-0 early in the game! After several series of possession changes, Meade finally found the endzone one more time before the half making the score 14-0. As the wind picked up in the second half, Meade's intensity did as well. Another trip to the endzone found Meade up 20-0 and the Railroader's got another chance. Ellis finally found the endzone and with a successful two point conversion the score was 20-8. Meade managed to run time off the clock and found themselves victorious once again with the final score of 20-8.

This gives the Buffaloes the 2008 2A Sectional Championship. The Buffaloes have not made it this far in football playoffs since 1980 when they were State Champions. Meade will play host to the Smith Center Redmen on Friday, November 21st. Kick off is at 6:00 p.m.

2008 Regional Champions!!!!

WOW!!! What a game . . . I am so excited! This round has been our "doom" for the last several years and what a great feeling to overcome that obstacle!

Meade struck first putting up 7 on the scoreboard! Oakley wasn't about to give up early and came back with a touchdown of their own and converting for the 2 putting them up 8-7. Both teams exchanged possessions several times before the Plainsmen struck again putting them up 16-7. The Buffaloes hung tight and put 6 more points on the scoreboard before half making the score 16-13 with two quarters left to play!

Both teams came out the 2nd half looking determined to take home the plaque. The Buffaloes found the endzone first making the score 19-16. They went on to score one more time putting them up 25-16. Not wanting to leave much room for hope for the Plainsmen the Buffaloes found the endzone one final time to make the score 33-16. The Plainsmen didn't quit and with the 4th quarter ticking away scored the final touchdown of the game which also became the final score! Meade 33 - Oakley 24!

This win advances us to the Sectional game against the Ellis Railroaders! Game time TBD!! Watch the blog for more details!
