It's Over!

Well we survived!! Another County Fair has come and gone and wow you forget how tired you get after a busy week like that. Not to mention how the heat can just zap every ounce of energy you have. But after it's all said and done we finished on a good note and we are happy about that! Kelby did well with his hog receiving Grand Champion in Market and Intermediate Showmanship. He then got to compete in the Round Robin competition and got Reserve Grand Champion for that! Everyone said it was the hat!

Kyle and Kelby both did well with Photography. Kelby rec'd Grand Champion on that as well and Kyle rec'd a class champion and qualified two photos for the State Fair.

We also got to make one last trip to the gymnasium yesterday to complete our summer basketball schedule. Kelby's team finished 4th and Kyle filled in for someone on the JV team and they got 3rd. We are really glad that is over.

So now with all that over it brings us to the reality that School is right around the corner. Summer just goes too fast.

The County Fair . . .

The time is drawing near for another Meade County rendition of The County Fair. The event takes place on July 22nd - July 27th and will feature all of the 4Hers work that they bring to exhibit as well as locals who provide Open Class entries for everyone to enjoy. If you would like to enter something be sure to pick up a fairbook and get your entries in to the Meade County Extension Office by Friday, July 20th. There's something for everyone!

Sunday will kick off the 2007 Fair with the Style Revue at 1:30 in the MHS Auditorium and move right into the Modern Day Outlaws and lawnmower racing at the Horse Arena on the Fairgrounds.

Monday will see the Horse Show participants all geared up and ready to put the skills they have worked on for many months to the test. This starts bright and early at 8:00 a.m.

Tuesday things will be buzzing as 4H'ers bring their animals and entries to the fairgrounds to be entered for judging. Farm Bureau will also sponsor the Pedal Tractor pull and Pheasants Forever will sponsor the 2nd Annual Family Fun Shootout!

Wednesday morning final exhibits will be entered with the judging process to begin first thing and conclude mid afternoon. The buildings will be open around 4:00 for everyone to see the long awaited results. Wednesday night activities include the Rabbit and Poultry show, the 4H Rocket Launch, The Sheep, Goat and Shepherd's Lead Show and will conclude with Beef participants in the showring with their animal projects.

Thursday morning starts off with a bang as hog participants arrive early to begin preparing their animals for the show! It will start at 9:00 a.m. On Thursday afternoon there will be various judging contests available for 4H members. The evening rounds out with the Round Robin Livestock contest and the famous Cake Walk by the 4-Leaf Clover 4H Club. At 7:00 head to the outdoor Arena to catch some Ranch Rodeo action.

Friday things begin to wind down. The Dog show will begin at 9:00 a.m. Be sure to come out and see how these members have worked so hard to train their dogs for this show. Friday night concludes with the Annual Fair BBQ and the Food and Livestock Auctions.

4Hers work very hard all year to prepare their exhibits and raise their animals. Come out and be part of the 2007 Meade County Fair. If you would like to participate in the auction and help support the 4Hers projects, please feel free to contact a Fairboard member for more information. Various organizations will have meals and food available throughout the week. We hope to see you all there!
