Congratulations Brady & Courtney

This week was Homecoming week in Buffalo Country as the Cimarron Bluejays came to town! Brady & Courtney were crowned King & Queen Prior to the game. Joining them in the Royal Court are: Zack & Kendall, Trent & Kari, Bradon & Sherrese, and Brandt & Desarae! The Bluejays came ready to play which stunned the "Band of Brothers" and Cimarron put points up first to start the game off 7-0. Meade answered with a touchdown of their own but the extra point failed so Cimarron still led 7-6. Meade finally got the offense rolling and pulled out a 20-7 final when time ticked off. Congrats everyone. Next week the Buffaloes head to Lakin.

6 and 0; 1 to Go

Okay . . the Junior High football season is winding down .. . next week they travel to Jetmore to face the shorthorns.. . . but first thing first. .. last night the Junior Buffaloes handled the Greensburg Rangers quite well . . . I have been known to not always pay attention . .. but I"m almost positive we scored within the first 5 seconds of the game. . . and the real "kicker" is . . . we kicked off to THEM to start the game. . . sigh . . . the early led gave all of the buffaloes a chance to see some time on the field! Good Job guys!

Desarae . . .

Desarae came on Saturday for her Senior Portrait session. It started out a bit chilly but quickly warmed up so we could get some great shots! Of course as I've mentioned before. .. we can't always avoid the wind. .. so we just work with it to create our portraits. . . Thanks for coming . . . Here are a few of my favorites. . . We tried out the new Sweet Apple Backdrop too . . .

Holiday Booking Information

It's hard to believe but the holidays are just around the corner. With that said, it means many things. . . . shopping, baking , and holiday portraits. October sessions are filled and calls are coming in for November. Weekend and evening sessions are filling quickly and will be limited due to school activities and the Thanksgiving holiday. If you need your portraits by Christmas, sessions and orders must be completed by December 1. It is possible to still have time to receive your portraitsafter this time, however, I cannot guarantee it due to the rush at the photo lab I use. Many weekends and evenings are already booked so if you are needing a session do not delay.

Siarra. . .

Last Saturday started out a dull and dreary day . . . and the wind . . . that lovely Kansas wind. . . and did I mention it was cold? Not all the elements a portrait photographer wants to have when a Senior portrait session is scheduled. . . so we went with plan B . . . started the day indoors instead and finished up outside when the lighting was better. .. well later in the day also meant MORE wind . .. but between gusts we managed to complete the session . . . Thanks for coming Siarra. . . It was hard to pick a favorite to post. . . but here are a few of mine . . .

The Dash . . .

Today we gathered to pay our respects to Duane Parcel. The slideshow that Trevin prepared was beautiful and will leave with us such good memories of what Duane accomplished in his 20+ years here in the Meade community. Last week a very good friend sent me an email which had a poem that was set to beautiful pictures and music. It was titled . .. The Dash!

As I sat today at this funeral service, it was evident by the many people there that Duane's Dash touched many people's lives!

Here is the poem to read as well as the website to see it with it's beautiful pictures and music!

Heavy Hearts and Regrets. ..

Heavy hearts loom over us as we all stop to gather thoughts and memories of our coach and teacher, Mr. Parcel. As a photographer situations like this make me realize so much more how much pictures can be important to us. As I went back through all of the pictures I've taken over the past few years at various sporting events I can only regret the number of images that I may not have saved that might have had even a glimpse of Mr. Parcel in them as he stood on the sidelines coaching our children. Since I've been taking the team pictures Mr. Parcel has declined to be in them so I don't even have any of those to share. However in looking back through my "drawer" of school memories and things I did come across two group pictures that had him in it and will share them now. My apologies to Lifetouch and Andrade for scanning these. Our thoughts and prayers go out the family. Duane was a part of many kids lives through the years and will be missed tremendously.

Down the Buffalo Trail. . .

The Meade Cross Country Team hosted their own meet this past Thursday and despite the heat bearing down and the nice SW Kansas breeze making it's appearance the boys team finished in 2nd place and the girls in 3rd. Levi Delissa placed 4th and Jessica Thompson finished 5th. Good Job and Good Luck next Saturday at Hugoton as well as the rest of your season!

Just Stuff. ..

Okay . .. so I mentioned yesterday that the pollen was floating very prominently in the air . .. so I said enough was enough and broke down and called the doctor . . .thinking maybe just maybe they would renew my prescription to put these sneezes to rest. . .but oh no . . .they claimed they haven't seen me since 2003 . .. can I help it that I'm healthy haha . .. well okay it is their job so off to the doctor I go . . . all of 15 minutes for them to give me something for relief. .. but in the end it will be worth it . .. sigh . . .

Now on to better things . . . for the last 3 years I've had the opportunity to photograph the sports teams at our school . . . so today's blog will feature our High School Volleyball Team . .. They traveled to Elkhart last night to take on some High Plains League competition . .. I haven't heard the outcome so if anyone out there is reading . . . feel free to let me know . . . So anyway... the team didn't want just an "ordinary" line them up picture this year . .. I dont' blame them . .. so we went for a unique look and utilized the swings at our City Park . . . So to the 2007 MHS Volleyball Team ... Good Luck to you the rest of your season . . . Tune in tomorrow for the highlighted teams . . .

What to Blog . . .

When I started this blog I thought to myself how easy it would be to find things to write about . .. I mean after all I like to talk and have been known to do it alot . .. but then after I got it all up and going I found myself thinking . . hmm . .. what should I write ... so as you can tell I haven't been very good to post many things on it . .. well I'm striving to change that . .. so if nothing else you might just find mindless ramblings. I mean I could sit here and type about how the allergy season has arrived and how the box of kleenex on my desk is disappearing rapidly as I sneeze time after time after time . .. or I could write about how fall weather is approaching and we are starting to notice cooler mornings, shorter days as well as floating pollen . . . which by the way contribues to that disappearing kleenex problem I'm having . . . so you see I could find numerous ways to contribute to this blog without trying extremely hard. .. but how necessary is some of that talk. .. sooooo . . . As I've read through other blogs . . . other photographers in general . .. I've noticed that they put a nice touch to it by including some of their favorite images from various sessions . .. so I thought . . . why not!

So to kick off my new blog resolution I'll share a few images with you of my latest Senior session! Sherrese is in Volleyball so we had to schedule this holiday session in order to get things done while things were still green(well mostly green anyway) . . . Sherrese was a trooper even when I asked her if we could "walk" to that little house out on the prairie since there was a new big gate across the area we needed to drive through . . . not to mention the tall sunflowers and things . .. lucky for us all we got there and back without even seeing a snake . .. Thanks Sherrese for a great session! Enjoy the peek!
