Who Wants to WIN!

My son, Kyle, had an unexpected opportunity come up last week and was asked to fill a vacant spot on the TLC Mission Trip Team to Ecuador in March. They will be leaving on March 13 and coming back on March 24. So as we scurry to get passports and vaccinations, he is also trying to raise the funds to go and on very short notice!

This is an incredible opportunity for these youth and their sponsors. While in Ecuador they will spend time in Quito visiting with other youth and sharing God's word with them. They will then canoe down the river to the jungle of Ecuador where they will spend the remainder of their time building a church and talking with the tribe about Christianity in hopes that the people there will be able to continue building their relationship with God once they leave.

Kyle is very excited to be given this opportunity. The cost of the trip is approximately $2200. To help him raise his funds, Kyle will be offering two prizes: A Henry Goldenboy .22 Rifle and a $250 Gift Certificate for a portrait session from Prairie Images Photography! The rifle is a lever action rifle with a beautiful polished brass receiver and octagon barrel. Anyone would be proud to own it. If you would like to see the rifle or have any questions regarding the drawing, please call 873-5258 or email smkkross@hughes.net Kyle will be glad to meet with you to show you the rifle and I can answer any questions about the gift certificate.

You can divide the entries any way you like and can choose one raffle or both. Ticket chances for the drawing will be: $1 for 1 chance; $10 for 15 chances; or $25 for 40 chances. The drawing will be held on Sunday, February 24th, 2008 @ 5:00 p.m.

Thank you for your prayers and support as they all prepare for this trip and for your consideration to help him with this opportunity!

2007-08 Back to Back Champions!

Well .. they did it . .. once again the MJH Buffalo boys have finished their JH season as Regular Season League Champions and League Tournament Champions. They have accomplished something that very few can say they did and have never lost a football or basketball game in their JH careers! And they got to do it in the Duane Parcel Gymnasium! Congrats Boys on a wonderful accomplishment and a great season!

14-0 . .. One to Go!

The MJH Junior Buffs started tournament action last night with a win over the Jetmore Shorthorns. The improved Shorthorns arrived ready to play and stayed with the Buffaloes through the first quarter. The Buffaloes finally found their game and rallied to increase the lead before half-time. This puts the Buffs at 14-0 going into the Championship Game against the South Central Timberwolves.

The MJH Lady Buffs dug down deep with determination and came out with a 2 point upset over the South Central Timberwolves. This will put them into the Championship Game also against the Spearville Royal Lancers.

Come out and support our Jr. Buffs. They've worked hard all season. Girls will tip off approximately 5:30 and the boys will follow at around 6:45.

Good Luck Buffaloes!

Basketball Fever. . .

The 2008 portion of Basketball Season is well underway with a jam packed schedule in January . . . having kids in both JH and HS makes life a bit interesting and we started off on January 3, 2008 with the 1st game of 10 in the 16 days to follow. . . Does that make you tired just reading? I can only sympathize with those that also get to travel on Saturdays for the Rec Ball as well . . . whew. . .

I'm a bit behind in my blog posting . . . so I'll just kind of hit all of this in one big post. . . Both MHS and MJH boys remain undefeated. . . The MHS Boys have defeated Jetmore on 1/4, Sublette on 1/8 and Minneola on 1/11. Sublette was a handful and put our boys to the test but we dug deep and found our game coming from 13 behind to defeat them by 1 point. Brandt Rogers stepped up and scored 29 points to lead the Buffaloes. Next week the Greensburg Rangers travel to Meade on Tuesday(1/15), and on Friday(1/18) the Buffalo Men travel to Fowler for an in-county rivalry that always proves to be an exciting contest.

The MJH Boys continued their winning streak with a busy schedule as well. They started off with an easy win over Bucklin on 1/3, a win over South Gray on 1/7 and to round out the Regular Season the MJH Buffaloes fought hard to hang on to their undefeated status by beating Ashland on 1/10 in an overtime thriller. Prior to the game, the Junior High Gymnasium was dedicated to the coach we lost in September, Mr. Parcel. What a way to end the Regular Season. This means tournament time for MJH and the Jr. Buffaloes will face Jetmore in the first round of the Tourney @ 6:45 on Monday!

Both JH and HS Girls teams followed the same schedule as above. . . they continue to fight hard and have showed alot of determination in this packed schedule. The MHS Lady Buffs came from behind and showed they can compete by defeating Jetmore 51-48. That same luck unfortunately couldn't be found at Sublette as the Larks defeated our girls in a very physical contest. The Lady Buffaloes found themselves back in the win column at Minneola on Friday with a hard earned victory.

The JH girls fought hard against Bucklin and South Gray but couldn't seem to find a win. They finished out their Regular season with an easy win over the Ashland Bluejays on Thursday. Going into the final tournament with a 4th seed the Jr. Lady Buffs played their first round of tournament action yesterday taking on the Greensburg Rangers. They came out ready to play with an easy 35-2 victory and will take on the South Central Timberwolves on Monday!

The JH League Tournament will be played in Meade on Monday and Thursday in the newly dedicated Duane Parcel Gymnasium. Come out and show your support to our Buffaloes.
